Sam Schieren lives in Richmond, Virginia. He has published stories in The Iowa Review, Gulf Coast, Notch, Southern Humanities Review, Wigleaf, and Soft Union, among other places. He teaches at VCU and is an editor at Blackbird. In 2024, he won the Barry Hannah Prize for Fiction.

He is seeking representation for two completed novels, The Magic Bean and Voyeurs, and a collection of stories, Spaghetti Man, finalist for the 2025 Rising Writer Prize from Autumn House.
