Sam Schieren lives in Richmond, Virginia. He has published stories in The Iowa Review, Notch, The End, Gulf Coast, Wigleaf, and Soft Union, among other places. He teaches at VCU and is an editor at Blackbird. He won the Barry Hannah Prize for Fiction in 2024 and was a finalist for the 2025 Rising Writer Prize from Autumn House.
