Sam Schieren lives in Richmond, Virginia. His fiction has been published in The Iowa Review, Notch, The End, Wigleaf, Southern Humanities Review, Gulf Coast, Soft Union, and elsewhere. He has held residencies and fellowships at Vermont Studio Center, VCCA, the Visual Arts Center of Richmond, and Writing By Writers. He teaches at VCU and is the fiction editor of Blackbird. He won the Barry Hannah Prize for Fiction.
